Located in Tainan, BD Iron Plate Cuisine specializes in high cost-performance teppanyaki dishes, with prices even half of many other teppanyaki restaurants. The seating is limited, yet the place is often packed during meal times, showcasing its popularity. As part of a special promotion, from now until the end of November, customers who spend over NT$500 and show the ETNEWS News Cloud app can receive a free Iron Plate Makki dish.

Spanish Iberico Pork – NT$300
With marbling resembling marble, it doesn’t taste like regular pork at all. It’s more tender than usual pork, with a slight crispiness at the end that lingers on the palate. Unlike Matsusaka pork, its crispness comes from the fat rendered through the iron plate cooking.

Fermented Tofu Chicken – NT$270
Similar to the soy milk chicken often found in night markets, the sauce here uses handcrafted pineapple soy milk from Yilan. The pineapple brings out more sour-sweetness, making it less greasy while still rich. The chicken used is Taiwan native chicken, which has a firmer and springier texture. The restaurant opts not to use imported chicken, aiming instead to showcase quality local ingredients.

Crispy Fish Skin – NT$70
Fish skin is a staple in Tainan home cooking, but it's become rare these days. The owner says it's a way of expressing nostalgia for Taiwan by giving this old dish a creative twist. “Other places cook fish skin in soup, no one fries it. Only my mom used to make it this way.”

Bacon with Tomato – NT$50
An Italian-style bacon and tomato dish. Many places use cherry tomatoes, but this restaurant uses whole beef tomatoes, balancing their flavor with the aroma of bacon and a simple sauce. Since beef tomatoes are juicier, the texture turns out more moist.

Basil Egg Roll – NT$50
A very nostalgic-tasting egg roll. Most egg rolls use Thai basil or are stir-fried, but this one is presented in a more Japanese-style omelet fashion, resulting in a dish with great depth of flavor.

Pan-Fried Beef Tendon – NT$100
A daily limited item at the shop, the beef tendon is braised using a secret family recipe until it becomes springy and tender—soft yet firm, but never mushy. It pairs excellently with beer.

Loofah with Fish Balls – NT$60
The fish balls here are made by spreading circular fish paste with a butter piping bag technique on the iron plate. “Our fish paste is made from milkfish, because we want to incorporate something originally from Tainan,” the boss said with a smile.
