Depending on weather and temperature conditions, ski resorts in Beijing will begin operations as early as mid-to-late December. Those who can’t wait can head to Wanlong Ski Resort in Chongli. As the earliest-opening ski resort in North China, Wanlong has opened a week early.
“It’s going to get warmer next week; we probably won’t be able to open until mid-to-late November at the earliest,” staff at Nanshan Ski Resort told the Beijing Youth Daily yesterday. As the largest suburban ski resort in Beijing, their opening schedule is still uncertain and depends on the weather. Prices this year have risen slightly—the regular price is 185 yuan per day on weekdays, 255 yuan for a half-day on weekends, and 295 yuan for a full day. “These are discounted rates available if you book one day in advance via our WeChat platform. The full price on weekends would be 450 yuan.”
Staff noted that starting from the 21st of last month, Nanshan Ski Resort began pre-sales for this season’s ski session cards and seasonal passes. For specific opening times, the public can check the resort’s official website, and updates will also be pushed in real-time via its official WeChat account.
Located in Changping, Jundu Mountain Ski Resort features the highest-difficulty advanced slope in China and is a gathering spot for many skiing enthusiasts. Staff said it will not open until early December at the earliest. Current prices are set: 150 yuan for four hours on weekdays, 180 yuan for a full day, and 270 yuan for a full day on weekends.
In addition to Nanshan and Jundu Mountain Ski Resorts, other resorts including Huabei International Ski Resort in Huairou, Yuyang International Ski Resort in Pinggu, and Wanlong Bayi Ski Resort—located closest to the city center—will all begin operations by the end of this month or early next month. Prices for these are also not yet finalized. Meanwhile, Yunfo Mountain Ski Resort in Miyun started trial snowmaking operations last Thursday afternoon. A relevant official from Yunfo Mountain Ski Resort stated that the resort is expected to open as early as next week, with additional discounts on pricing.
Aside from the more remote ski resorts in Beijing, Chongli’s Wanlong Ski Resort is already open to visitors. Discounted prices will apply until the 19th, with a minimum daily rate of 320 yuan. After the 19th, normal prices will resume, with two hours of skiing costing 350 yuan.
