With the successful bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics, skiing has garnered increasing attention. Especially in the long northern winters, skiing has become a popular fitness activity and has also brought new highlights to winter tourism.
On the morning of November 14, the 2015-2016 ski season at Vanke Songhua Lake Resort officially kicked off. Hundreds of skiers, fully equipped, took the cable car to the mountain summit. The first ski ceremony was held at the entrance of “Jilin ONE,” the highest-altitude restaurant in Jilin City and the starting point of the resort’s main ski run. Skiers from community groups and ski clubs put on impressive performances in both snowboarding and alpine skiing, earning rounds of applause from the audience. Afterwards, the skiers set off on their new winter journey with joy and light steps. Mr. Zhou from Harbin, who came with a group, cited convenient transportation and professional ski runs as his reasons for choosing the resort.
It is understood that Vanke Songhua Lake Resort is a key project in Jilin Province’s tourism development and the core of the “Songhua Lake Tourist Resort,” one of Jilin City’s ten functional zones. The Songhua Lake Ski Resort is located at the northern foot of Daqing Mountain and by the shores of Songhua Lake, featuring a unique terrain that can accommodate both family vacations and international competitions, with the highest elevation drop reaching 605 meters. The area enjoys an average annual ice and snow period of over 150 days, with normal snow accumulation of about 1 meter and excellent snow quality. In 2015, the ski resort fully opened 28 ski runs, increasing the skiing area to 1.51 million square meters, and added six chairlifts with heated seats, spanning a total length of 9 kilometers. Challenging advanced runs and a snowboard park cater to higher-level skiing needs. Vanke Songhua Lake Resort is a holiday destination that integrates a ski resort, The Prince Hotel Wusong, Qing Shan Apartments, a resort town, a snow play park, and ski training facilities. It is not only a paradise for skiers but also ideal for family holidays. Night skiing, foot baths, spas, swimming pools, a variety of shops, and restaurants offering both northern and southern Chinese cuisine provide comprehensive amenities for a well-rounded holiday experience, adding new vibrancy to your winter travels.
The Benliu Extreme Park also opened on the same day at the Songhua Lake Resort, catering to all children and skiing enthusiasts. At the event site, themed games such as treasure hunts for icons to win prizes and ice-chiseling for red envelopes had visitors thoroughly entertained.
It is reported that direct shuttle buses between Longjia Airport, Jilin Railway Station, and the Songhua Lake Resort have been launched.
