The “OWN THE WEEKEND” family-themed event jointly organized by Coleman and LeEco Outdoors was successfully held.
Escape the city and enjoy the outdoors this weekend
On November 14, Coleman partnered with LeEco Outdoors to step away from the urban hustle and head to the outskirts of Beijing for an extraordinary family outdoor experience.
The city, an increasingly massive entity, is often plagued by pollution, smog, and congestion... This weekend, Beijing’s smog level even reached hazardous levels. The organizers took dozens of three-member families away from the city to the relatively cleaner air of the suburbs — the KBR Outdoor Base in Sidu, Fangshan, Beijing — to participate in Coleman’s global campaign themed “OWN THE WEEKEND.”
Dozens of families left the city behind to enjoy the relatively fresher air of the suburbs.
The event was co-hosted by Coleman and LeEco Outdoors, with route support provided by Pantuo Outdoors and venue support from the KBR Base. Participants were selected through online registration and a lottery system, with over a hundred people attending. Coleman provided delicious barbecue ingredients, high-quality equipment, professional outdoor gear, and on-site guidance. The participating families were divided into blue, green, and red teams, competing in three exciting and fun challenges: tent pitching, cycling, and hiking. In the end, the blue team claimed first place, the green team narrowly took second, and the red team secured third.

Early on the 14th, the group of over a hundred arrived at the KBR Outdoor Base. The moment they stepped out of their vehicles, the beautiful scenery and fresh environment instantly lifted everyone’s spirits. Many remarked that the air was noticeably better than in the city, and although it was winter, the area offered a uniquely refreshing experience.

As a platform promoting healthy living, LeEco Outdoors meticulously prepared for this event. Cai Yingyuan, General Manager of LeEco Outdoors, addressed the participants: “Stay active in winter, and try to get more families outdoors every weekend to enjoy nature.” Before the activities began, participants were divided into blue, red, and green teams of similar sizes. The competition was team-based, featuring three events: tent pitching, cycling, and hiking. Each event was scored based on completion time, with 10 points for first, 8 for second, and 6 for third. The total scores across all three events determined the final rankings.
Families first learned how to set up sunshades and quick-pitch three-person tents under the guidance of Coleman experts, while also being introduced to basic outdoor knowledge and new Coleman products like their premium air mattresses. At the sound of the starting whistle, the tent-pitching race began. Each team worked together diligently, and soon uniquely designed shelters and tents were erected. The entire process embodied Coleman’s philosophy of joyful outdoor living, and the outstanding performance and user-friendly design of their gear impressed all participants. In the end, the blue team claimed first place with the fastest completion time.
At noon, everyone began preparing their stoves for a barbecue. Delicious food, paired with mountain views and clear waters, delighted every family. Both kids and adults enjoyed the warm, nature-filled atmosphere.

After lunch came the second event: a cycling race. A professional fitness coach from Beijing Sport University led the warm-up session, with all participants — both adults and children — taking the movements seriously and getting energized. The cycling race was a relay format, with five members per team. The race was highly competitive, and kids cheered loudly for their family members. Scores were extremely close, but the blue team once again took first place.

Notably, the LeEco Super Bikes were showcased on the race track. Their sleek design, powerful functionality, and smart features offered participants a revolutionary biking experience. Riders praised the bikes, eagerly trying them out and learning more about the product.
The final event, hiking, finally commenced. The roughly 3-kilometer course mainly featured dirt paths and shrubbery, with steep and rugged terrain. The highest climb reached 200 meters, making for a challenging hike. After an exciting opening ceremony, encouragement rang out: “Go dad!” “Be careful!” as the kids cheered for their loved ones.

After a tough climb, the first finisher completed the course in 11 minutes, while everyone else finished in around 30 minutes. The green team bounced back to win the hiking championship. At the finish line, all participants took a commemorative group photo. The breathtaking mountain views and wild persimmons provided a delightful treat. Despite varying abilities, everyone persevered to the end — there were no losers. On such a demanding course, anyone who made it to the top was a true hero.

Back at the base camp, the children of each family gave their hardworking parents a heartfelt hug full of love, as the deep familial bond was elevated at that moment. Coleman and LeEco Outdoor interviewed some of the families, who expressed that they are usually very busy with work and rarely have the chance to leave the city on weekends to go to the countryside. They also mentioned that they would be more willing to engage in outdoor activities and fitness in the future. They spoke highly of Coleman’s professional equipment and services, the lifestyle advocated by Coleman, and the attentive guidance from the coaches, calling it a unique and unforgettable experience. In the end, the Blue Team won the championship with the highest overall score, and all participants received exquisite prizes provided by Coleman. Pantuo Outdoor also prepared shopping mall vouchers worth a total of ten thousand yuan for the contestants.

Coleman teams up with LeEco Outdoor to bring a new outdoor experience
Wang Li, Marketing Manager of Coleman, said:"Over the past one hundred years, Coleman has been dedicated to the research and development of outdoor products, creating high-quality goods for consumers, striving to perfectly meet the diverse needs of those who pursue excellence and love life, whether for outdoor adventures or family time. From the very beginning, Coleman has played the role of an advocate and guide for quality living. To put it precisely,Coleman doesn’t just sell products, but rather a positive, optimistic, and healthy outdoor lifestyle. We have always placed great emphasis on family groups. This year, we have invested more manpower and effort in both marketing and new product development, offering Chinese families a wide range of cool activities and uniquely designed new products. The collaboration between Coleman and LeEco Outdoor is innovative. OWN THE WEEKEND is a global campaign launched by Coleman in 2016. We hope everyone can own their own weekend, and Coleman has always been advocating a lifestyle that brings people closer to nature and family.
Cai Yingyuan, General Manager of LeEco Outdoor Division, strongly agreed with this view. He said: 'The OWN THE WEEKEND event aligns perfectly with the healthy lifestyle philosophy that LeEco Outdoor has always promoted. Today, we brought over 100 urbanites to the suburbs of Beijing for cycling, camping, hiking, and barbecuing, and both adults and children had a great time. Leading the whole family outdoors to relax on weekends is what LeEco Outdoor and LeEco Sports advocate. Our goal is to get more people involved in sports. I’ve been friends with Coleman for many years, and similar events are held every year. The highlight of this event is its clear theme. Living in the city, people are usually very tired and only have weekends to take their children to the suburbs to enjoy nature. In China, this relatively new outdoor lifestyle is just getting started. Currently, our outdoor sports facilities and campsites are not yet fully developed. For decades, we focused mainly on economic development, and now issues like environmental protection, air quality, and water quality are also quite concerning.
Going forward, we should stay optimistic. More and more people in China are crossing the $10,000 annual income threshold. Once income exceeds $10,000, people tend to shift their daily spending from food and basic needs to travel and enjoying life. As most Chinese gradually become more affluent, owning a private car is no longer a novelty. We should be filling our car trunks with air mattresses, coolers, and camping gear, so that our children can enjoy nature and the outdoors with us. Finally, I’d like to thank Coleman and the OWN THE WEEKEND theme event once again. I believe that as our national environment continues to improve, we will see more such events, and our outdoor industry will also welcome a spring.
Coleman’s global “OWN THE WEEKEND” theme event will continue to collaborate with LeEco Outdoor next year, forming a long-term project spanning the entire year. Including Family Season, Water Activities Season, Outdoor Cycling Season, and French Cuisine Season, even more rich and diverse content will be added. Coleman will also continue to uphold the eternal theme of “love” and keep moving forward.
