Heilongjiang Daily News (By Song Sibo, Reporter Liu Dayong) Since the start of winter, the temperature in Mohe Arctic Village, one of the five premium routes under Heilongjiang Province’s this winter’s “Crown of Ice and Snow” campaign, has been dropping steadily, leading to a gradual boom in local tourism. The flagship Arctic Ski Resort in Arctic Village has attracted a large number of tourists from Guangdong, Shanghai, and Hebei since it officially opened to the public on November 15.
It is understood that Mohe Arctic Village enjoys a snow cover period of over 200 days each year. With its unique ice and snow resources, the Arctic Ski Resort has become the first outdoor ski resort in Heilongjiang Province to officially open for business this winter. In addition to skiing, a rich variety of winter activities such as sledding, snow tug-of-war, and snow football allow visitors to experience the unique charm of Heilongjiang’s winter ice and snow.
Another highlight of the Arctic Ski Resort is its location right across the Heilongjiang River from Russia. Standing on this border ski slope, visitors can take in the snowy landscapes of both countries. Signage within the resort is inscribed in five languages, highlighting its international appeal. To ensure visitors’ safety and enjoyment, the resort has added site safety officers and ski instructor stations this year, and has also upgraded its snow tubing runs. Meanwhile, adjacent to the ski resort is the “sister village” of Finland’s Santa Claus Village — Asia’s only Arctic Santa Claus Village. Every winter, Finland sends professional Santa Clauses to reside here, engaging in winter tourism exchanges and interactions. Visitors can experience authentic Christmas culture at this site.
