Nima Tsering introduced that since the new century, government-organized mountaineering activities in Tibet’s mountaineering and outdoor sports sector have been decreasing, while conversely, more and more non-professionals have been coming to Tibet to climb. Commercial mountaineering has risen comprehensively with strong momentum. Tibet organizes climbing conferences for amateur climbing enthusiasts almost every year, and at the same time, relying on its strong professional talent team and exquisite mountaineering techniques, it provides various services to climbers from home and abroad. Currently, there are many entrepreneurial climbing enthusiasts, such as Wang Shi, founder of Vanke Group, President Yu Liang, Huang Nupuo, founder of Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group, and Wang Qiuyang, Co-Chairman of Beijing Today Insulation Investment Group Co., Ltd., who have climbed numerous snow-capped mountains, including the world’s highest peak—Mount Everest. Tibet’s high-altitude mountains have also become a backyard for entrepreneurial climbing enthusiasts.

From the perspective of the development of ice and snow sports or mountain outdoor activities themselves, skiing is a huge industry. In the past, Wanda Group invested in building an international tourism resort in Changbai Mountain, with nearly 20 billion yuan invested just in the ski resort; last year, Vanke Group invested tens of billions of yuan in building a ski resort at Songhua Lake.
Nima Tsering said: "At the 2015 National Sports Industry Summit Forum, Zhang Tao, president of the Sports Business Group at Toread, introduced that they plan to build more than 10 ski resorts south of the Yangtze River in the future. This level of investment is very significant, which shows that the social and economic benefits brought by skiing are immeasurable. Therefore, it is suggested to plan and select a site at a mountain pass on the opposite bank of the Lhasa River. However, Lhasa itself is subject to objective factors such as geographical location and climate conditions, so the investment required will be relatively large. Building a ski resort in Lhasa can mainly promote the development of Tibet's winter tourism industry, and alpine skiing may become the mainstay of our region's future sports consumption industry."
Famous mountaineering guide Kang Hua said in an interview: "I will give you an introduction to the ski-mountaineering project from the perspective of a frontline practitioner and specific work practice. Ski-mountaineering is a great project that combines mass skiing with mountain activities. Moreover, it is currently a blank area in China. Over the past five years, mountaineering and skiing have become increasingly intertwined. Especially among climbers—whether professionals like those in the Chinese Mountaineering Team or amateur enthusiasts—many have started engaging in ski-mountaineering. Of course, this is against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the skiing population. As far as I know, based on data before the successful bid for the Winter Olympics, the Nanshan Ski Resort, the best in the Beijing area, had 240,000 visitors in the previous ski season, but last year it was 300,000, showing rapid growth. In the Chongli area, Wanlong is quite representative; they had 60,000 visitors in the previous ski season and 100,000 in the last one. This shows that especially after the successful bid for the Beijing Winter Olympics, the mass skiing market in China will grow sharply. Therefore, Tibet’s skiing industry has promising prospects."
