It feels like arriving on another planet！Hsinchu’s landscape installation art becomes an alternative tourist attraction

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s renowned Setouchi Triennale, the“Romantic Taiwan Third Line International Art Season”organized by Hsinchu County Government hasyielded fruitful results. Recently, the landscape installation artworks “Seed Planet Comes to Visit” in Baoshan Township and “Beside” in Qionglin Township have been officially completed. Created by world-class masters, the finished pieces have amazed everyone！

After creating Taiwan’s first landscape art piece, “Tung Blossom Seed Tea House,” on Sanyi Township along Taiwan’s Third Line, internationally acclaimed artist Lin Shun-long has now crafted an even larger and more beautiful“Seed Planet Comes to Visit.”This landscape art, located in the Youcen Eco-Fishery Farming Park in Baoshan Township, is not only a leisure and tea-tasting highlight but also offers views of Wuzhichu and Goose Ridge Mountain. Moreover, Taiwan’s top-tier neon art adds an extra touch of charm.

County Magistrate Chiu emphasized that this artwork uses four thick driftwood trunks to represent a forest, with numerous tables and chairs inlaid on the trees, symbolizing the hospitality of the Hakka people. A seed planet constructed from wooden boards and strips floats among the giant trunks. Friends can climb the ladder to enter, enjoy tea, and chat while admiring the misty beauty of the distant mountains. What’s even more unique is that at night, the planet emits a soft glow from within, creating a romantic and aesthetic atmosphere.

Another piece, located in Qionglin Township, is“Beside,”created with the community by artist Fan Cheng-zong. One large and one small bamboo-woven sphere represent the ideas of companionship, support, and a sense of unity—being right there beside you. Because “Beside” is situated in Deng Yu-xian Memorial Park, it also aims to blend the local charm of Qionglin, such as the nostalgic sentiment associated with Deng Yu-xian, connecting the landscape art with deeper meaning and shining a spotlight on Qionglin.

This work features one large and one small spherical bamboo-woven installation. The large one stands 4 meters high with a 3m x 3m circular shape, while the smaller one is about 1 meter tall. Named “Beside,”it encourages deeper reflection and connection between people, and between humans and nature.The use of Ma bamboo material not only stems from Artist Fan’s reputation as a master bamboo weaver but also reflects the abundance of Ma bamboo in Qionglin Township’s Zhilao Wo area, as well as the symbolism of strength in unity.
