At 7:30 a.m. on December 20, the 2015 Fuzhou International Marathon kicked off along the picturesque riverside. The event featured full marathon, half marathon, and mini run categories, attractingathletes from nine countries and regions including China, Kenya, Ethiopia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), and Taiwan (China). A total of 15,000 participants took part. After fierce competition, Ethiopian runners emerged as the biggest winners of the race, not only sweeping the top three spots in the men’s full marathon but also claiming the first and third places in the women’s full marathon. Notably, the professional smart sports watch EZON E1 also helped Ethiopian athlete Kassa Kidane Fekadu secure third place in the men’s full marathon with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 45 seconds.

Prior to this, Fuzhou had never hosted a large-scale international marathon. In this event that filled a gap in Fuzhou’s marathon history, Fujian EZON Information Technology Co., Ltd., a renowned brand of smart sports watches, was fully committed at all levels. From sponsoring the marathon, to forming an official pace team, to organizing a strong contingent of participants, the company demonstrated a high level of responsibility and mission as a local Fuzhou enterprise.

A Team of 158 Runners Draws Wide Attention

Marathon is a sport most suitable for mass participation—regardless of skill level, age, or gender, anyone can join. Athletes have various goals: some challenge their limits solo, while others run in groups to showcase themselves. With this in mind, EZON, aiming to improve the physical fitness of its employees, called on all staff to participate, receiving an enthusiastic response and forming the 158-strong FumaEZON Light Runners team. On the scenic racecourse, this sizable group stood out prominently. Led by company executives, they wore blue T-shirts printed with the words “Light Run Fuma,” taking part in the full marathon, half marathon, and mini marathon. Among them, 12 ran the full marathon, 12 the half marathon, and a whopping 134 joined the 5-kilometer mini marathon. Breathing in the fresh air of Fuzhou and jogging along the picturesque riverside, the EZON team radiated energy, experiencing the joy brought by combining marathon running with a green, ecological city, catching the attention of fellow runners and spectators alike.

Notably, company Chairman Chen Zuyuan took part personally in the half marathon. Having achieved his pre-race goal, Chairman Chen said, “For a race held in Fuzhou, we must give our full support and participation. Nowadays, everyone’s work and life pace is very fast, leaving little time for exercise. I take this opportunity to encourage all employees to join in—it not only builds physical strength and willpower but also enhances corporate cohesion and unity.”

35 Pace Runners Become a Stunning Sight

In today’s major marathons, pace runners (nicknamed “rabbits”) are an indispensable element. These pacers help amateur runners manage their energy and pace wisely to better complete the race, and they have become increasingly popular among long-distance enthusiasts. For this event, the organizers entrusted EZON with the task of forming the official pace team. Prior to this, EZON—which aims to build China’s strongest pace team—had already deployed numerous light pace runners at the (Xiamen Marathon), (Beijing Marathon), (Shanghai Marathon), and (Shenzhen Marathon). Despite tight schedules, EZON, with its extensive experience in forming marathon pace teams, quickly recruited 35 high-level pace runners. They guided amateur runners of varying abilities to successfully complete the pacing duties for the Fuzhou Marathon, earning widespread praise from participants.

However, becoming an EZON light pace runner is no easy feat. In addition to possessing certain capabilities, looks are also an essential requirement. The 35 selected light pace runners, who stood out from many applicants, all combined skill with appearance, quickly capturing countless cameras upon appearing on the track. Moreover, to select the best pace runners to lead the participants, EZON meticulously prepared through selection, training, and course scouting to ensure everything was flawless. The effort paid off—the light pace runners won countless admiring glances on the Fuma course, becoming the most eye-catching attraction.

EZON Elements Everywhere on and off the Course

As a company dedicated to smart sports watches and committed to supporting sports, EZON provided comprehensive support for this event, showcasing its dedication and allowing people to feel the company’s thoughtfulness. Elements of EZON’s corporate culture were visible everywhere on and off the Fuma course. On the course, besides the official pace runners, there was also the largeFumaEZON Light Runners team, demonstrating the company’s sense of responsibility. Off the course, the EZON race timing boards placed every 5 kilometers, the official Fuma guide launched via the EZON WeChat account, and the pre-race running lectures all earned high praise from runners.

Speaking about the motivation behind focusing on marathon events, EZON Marketing Director Ai Qi stated that EZON has always adhered to the concept of sustainable development, actively practicing corporate social responsibility, and is committed to serving public health needs and improving quality of life. Actively supporting marathons—a widely practiced sport—is based both on an appreciation for the “never give up” spirit of the marathon, hoping to inspire more people to join the fitness movement and enjoy the vitality and joy brought by exercise and health, and on the desire to lead the smart sports industry, supporting the development of sports and healthy lifestyle industries.
