I’ve always had an almost obsessive love for snow, as if the moment it falls, the whole world is freshly cleansed. So when I received an invitation to embark on a self-driving tour of Inner Mongolia’s Ice and Snow Highway to experience its ethnic culture, I didn’t hesitate, didn’t make any plans, and certainly didn’t write any heartfelt resignation letter. And just like that, I set off happily.
