Every outdoor enthusiast has a beloved set of gear—windbreakers, pants, backpacks, tents—you name it. Due to differences in fabric and structure, these pricey outdoor items shouldn’t be cleaned the same way as everyday clothing. Here’s a look at how to clean different types of gear and the precautions to take.

Fleece Clothing (Pants & Tops):

1.Soak in cold wash detergent for 2–3 minutes (don’t soak too long, or it may damage the fabric color). Rinse with clean water, then blot excess moisture with a towel and lay flat to dry.

2.After rinsing with clean water, you can also fold the garment, place it in a laundry bag, and spin dry before laying it flat to dry.

3.If using a fabric softener, do not apply it directly to the clothing. Dilute the softener in water first, then place the garment in the solution.

4.Avoid washing fleece with towels, as lint may cling to the fabric.

5.Always follow the care label instructions. For items labeled “dry clean only,” do not wash them manually—take them to a dry cleaner instead.

Following the steps above will help your gear stay with you for years to come~
