Niubei Mountain, standing at around 3,660 meters above sea level, earned the titles of China's largest 360-degree "viewing platform" and an outstanding photography spot thanks to its distinctive location, surrounded by peaks with a central rise. It has long been a popular hiking destination among outdoor adventurers. In recent years, there have been recurring reports of the mountain being closed, though none were confirmed — until recently, when news of its closure for scenic area development was verified.

The current closure period for Niubei Mountain has not yet been finalized. It is expected to last between three to five months, starting with the removal of all mountain guesthouses, followed by a full closure through to the National Day holiday in 2018, when it will officially reopen. With just two months left, if you haven’t yet experienced the scenery of Niubei Mountain, now is the time to go. Once it’s developed into a formal scenic area, the entrance fee is likely to reach three digits.
