If you simply point your camera or phone at a snowy scene and meter the light, the resulting image will likely turn out too dark. In this case, you’ll need to adjust the exposure compensation to achieve proper exposure. Generally speaking, if most of the frame is covered in snow, increasing the exposure compensation by 1–2 stops after metering is appropriate.
