      Professor Wu Junsheng,   has been engaged in outdoor sports-related work since 2000. He is one of China’s earliest professionals in the field and initiated the country’s first youth island survival summer camp. With experience leading over 50,000 field trips, he has directed and advised on the design of nearly 50 domestic adventure training and special tourism projects.

      He is one of the few young experts in outdoor sports, outdoor campsite design, and construction in China who combines theoretical innovation with extensive practical experience.

Among his many social roles, he places greater emphasis on camp education

        Although Professor Wu Junsheng holds numerous social positions, a quick look through his Weibo posts clearly shows that he values camp education the most—especially youth camp education. On Weibo, he wrote:Outdoor education (Outdoor Education) is the most effective educational approach for contemporary Chinese youth to carry the future of the nation.

      In recent years, I have been advocating loudly: China’s youth outdoor education should learn from European and American countries—students must master orienteering and swimming before middle school so that their safety during land and water activities will be ensured.

Chinese sports lack the spirit of play and the temperament of nobility. Nowadays, too much is done for the sake of sport itself—how much is done for joy?

In 2012, only about 10% of students who underwent the high school graduation physical examination in Beijing were fully qualified. Aside from long-standing issues such as poor eyesight and being overweight, problems like scoliosis and increased blood pressure are also gradually emerging.

Youth outdoor activity camps should focus on activity programs.

The future of the nation is not built on singing and dancing skills or fluent English, nor is it for producing compradors for foreign powers. What we need more are children with strong physiques to demonstrate the enduring vitality of our people.
