From January 24 to 27, 2016, over 2,600 exhibitors from more than 50 countries will appear at ISPO MUNICH 2016, attending the world’s largest sporting goods trade fair.
This year’s show will also welcome a large number of high-profile political and sports industry guests:
IncludingDr. Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany; extreme mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner; and two Olympic champions: Matthias Steiner (weightlifting) and Claudia Pechstein (speed skating).
Such impressive figures all demonstrate theSPO MUNICHstatus of ISPO as the most important exhibition in the international sports industry. Compared to the previous edition, this eventhas added nearly 60 more exhibitors, with the proportion of international exhibitorsrising to 87%. The number of exhibitors in the health & fitness and outdoor sectors has seenthe highest growth.
- ISPO Vision – Fashion Lifestyle Area (Hall B1): High-end sportswear, design trends, and special exhibition on athleisure (everyday sportswear). Brands such as Bogner, Kjus, Peak Performance, New Balance, and Sportalm have become loyal clients of this area.
- Sportswear Area (Halls B2 and B3): Functional sportswear and accessories for winter sports. A “Wool Street” has been set up specifically for functional wool products. New fashion exhibitors in the sports category include Ilse Jacobsen, Canada Goose, Boxeur Des Rues, and Linea Primero.
- Performance Area (Hall C4): Sports ranging from team sports to water sports and other strength-based activities. Newcomers to this area include Trigon, Toesox, Futchi, and Legea.
- Textrends – Textiles and Fibers Area (Hall C3): High-performance textiles, latest materials, and new waterproof and breathable fabrics for sportswear and outdoor gear.
Exciting concurrent events
- January 24:Multiple-time Olympic speed skating champion Claudia Pechstein will give a speech at 11:00 on Sunday, January 24, in Hall B6.
- January 25:Dr. Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, will introduce the progress made by the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, an organization dedicated to improving working conditions in textile production. The speech will take place at 13:30 on Monday, January 25 (ISPO Academy; East Entrance).
- January 26:On Tuesday, January 26, the famous mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner will be awarded the ISPO Sportspersonality of the Year award. In addition, she will also be honored for her outstanding contributions to the Nepalhilfe Beilngries organization (Nepal Aid Beilngries, which supports Nepal). Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is the first woman to summit all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen, and is one of the best mountaineers in the world. The award ceremony will be held during the ISPO VIP Dinner, one of the highlights of the exhibition, with approximately 350 guests from business, sports, and media attending.
- On Tuesday, January 26, European Commission Vice-President Andrus Ansip will join the event to discuss “How is Europe adapting to the digital age?”
- ISPO Academy (East Entrance, EO.E4)will offer attendees exciting seminars, workshops, and panel discussions throughout the four-day event. The Academy has invited internationally renowned experts to discuss current trends in the sporting goods industry.
