As you can see, “mountain streams, gurgling creeks, fresh air, and breathtaking scenery all around…” Under the camera lens, this place is as beautiful as a fairyland.But at the same time, it’s also “remote wilderness, rarely visited by humans, overgrown with bushes, crawling with snakes and insects, blocked by strange rocks, and even with no path to follow.”
But as Lu Xun said, there were never any roads in the world—roads are made by those who walk them.
That’s right, we’re looking for that small group of brave souls who dare to blaze new trails. Join us in being the “first to try the crab”—
We are the Haituo Valley project, located at the foot of Haituo Mountain.
We are recruiting first-time hikers to test our newly developed through-hiking route. It’s not going to be very comfortable, so we call it the “Self-Torture Experience Officer.”
Welcome brave souls, fitness enthusiasts, and veteran or rookie hikers who aren’t afraid of a little suffering!!
Route Overview:
The trailhead is located at the Grand Canyon of Original American Town, passes by Ma’anshan Temple, and ends at Yanjiaping at the foot of Haituo Mountain. The total distance is about 20 kilometers, with a difficulty and intensity rating of around 7. The estimated crossing time is 10 hours.
The entire route requires crossing two peaks over 1,500 meters above sea level and one mountainside over 1,000 meters, with extremely complex terrain. Hikers will need to use their hands and feet, hack through thickets, climb steep slopes, and navigate massive rocks. When necessary, they’ll also have to face off against snakes and insects. It’s not just tough on the legs and feet, or the hands and heart—your looks will also take a hit under the scorching sun above 1,500 meters, instantly turning you into a black-faced Bao Gong.
Therefore, we boldly call this route the “Three Mountains and Five Torments” trail.
Additionally, an important note for hiking enthusiasts: Yanjiaping is not only the endpoint of the “Three Mountains and Five Torments” trail but also the starting point of another classic four-route through-hike in Haituo Mountain. Hikers with sufficient gear and stamina can rest up and then continue onward, connecting the two routes to complete a 2–3 day journey. This is definitely something worth looking forward to for all hiking enthusiasts.

The first 20 selected “Self-Torture Experience Officers” will have the opportunity to participate in
the launch event for the through-hiking route on June 23,
and the first trial hike on June 24.
They will also receive a dream experience voucher worth tens of thousands of yuan, provided by the Haituo Valley project, which can be used to experience the wooden cabins at Aolunda Tribe Original American Town and the RV hotel at Haituo Valley.
