  Book Introduction:

Utterly Tranquil tells the story of the legendary woman Wang Jing who accomplished the fastest climb of the Earth’s Nine Extremes (7+2) in just 143 days. Before 2014, she had already summited seven 8,000-meter-plus peaks eight times, including two ascents of Mount Everest. In 2014, she set out once again and set herself a crazy goal — to complete the Earth’s Nine Extremes climbing project in the shortest time possible. Despite numerous hardships, she ultimately achieved the fastest record of 143 days to conquer all nine. A key part of the book is the true account of the 2014 Everest avalanche disaster and Wang Jing’s summit of Everest. After the 2014 Nepal Everest disaster, she and her Nepali Sherpa teammates repaired the route themselves, persisted in climbing Mount Everest, and captured the first-ever precious images of the sunset atop Everest. Moreover, between 2014 and 2015, apart from Wang Jing’s team, no one else successfully summited Everest from the South Col.

“Only after experiencing the ultimate challenges can you witness the ultimate beauty; only when you are on the journey can you rediscover the very essence of yourself.” Utterly Tranquil is not only an account of one person’s brave journey across the summits, but also the life story of a woman who never gives up and blooms even in the most extreme conditions.
