At 10:00 on July 27, 2016, eight members of Team B of the Renmin University of China “Free Travelers” Mountaineering Team—Chu Wanbo, Yang Bo, Chen Jingyi, Huang Jin Yuqi, Jiang Boying, Chen Dongxing, Huang Zixiao, and Zhao Ling—successfully reached the summit of Yuzhu Peak, which stands at an altitude of 6,178 meters, via the more difficult north slope route from Glacier No. 2, enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the vast landscapes and the stunning beauty of the summit.
Thus far, upholding the spirit of “fearless in the face of hardship, tenacious in struggle, united in cooperation, and brave in scaling new heights,” the Renmin University of China “Free Travelers” Mountaineering Team has come a long way over the past 12 years. Snow mountains such as Yuzhu Peak, Tangla’anqu Peak, Mount Siguniang, Mount Sandan Kangsang, Mount Kaluxiong, and Mount Anyemaqen have witnessed the team’s step-by-step growth. Today’s return to Yuzhu also signifies that the Renmin University mountaineering team will continue to thrive and grow even stronger.
