Mr. Chen Bin, head of the Secretariat of the Tourism Commodities and Equipment Branch of the China Tourism Association, delivered a speech at the conference.
Mr. Chen Bin highly praised the innovative model of this competition, expressing his belief that Longyan will surely blaze a new trail in tourism commodities and hoping that more creative design teams from across the country will actively participate in this competition.
At the press conference, Mr. Chen Songling gave a thematic introduction to the “Hakka Gifts” Creative Design Competition. He comprehensively analyzed the current development status and trends of tourism commodities in Longyan and the Hakka region, and provided an in-depth interpretation of the competition. He said that Longyan is one of the birthplaces of Hakka culture and also a nationally renowned old revolutionary base area. Its long history has left it with a distinctive Hakka culture bearing the flavor of western Fujian. The competition, rooted in Longyan’s local context and focusing on the characteristics of scenic spots and souvenir enterprises in the Hakka region, aims to engage a wider and higher-level range of well-known domestic and international experts, designers, and art academy groups to uncover more creative and innovative inspirations. It seeks to develop and design tourism commodities with Hakka characteristics and will collaborate with capable domestic and international manufacturers to transform the designs into products and promote their marketing. This will help “Hakka Gifts” reach across the nation and to overseas markets, contributing to Fujian Province’s goal of becoming an “internationally renowned tourist destination.”
It is reported that the competition will begin accepting submissions on September 1, with the submission deadline set for November 15. The final evaluation of entries will take place on December 30, and the award ceremony along with an exhibition of outstanding works will be held in January 2017. The top prize includes an entrepreneurial production and transformation fund of up to 500,000 yuan, as well as a certificate.
