The 2016 Beijing International Photography Week will be held in Beijing from October 15 to October 23. After three successful editions, a multitude of high-end, professional-level photography exhibitions from both China and abroad have been continuously presented, making the Beijing International Photography Week an important platform for international photographic exchange and even cultural exchange.

Within this year’s Beijing International Photography Week, Honeyview proudly unveils"In Noon There Is Edge—Cai Yuan’s Photography Collection Exhibition"and "Chinese Faces", two exhibitions that are highly industry-specific and representative.

Since 2013, the Beijing International Photography Week has been held for three consecutive editions under the themes of “Photography Focuses on the World,” “Boundless Vision,” and “Images of the Century.” It has involved over 1,000 professional photographers from more than 30 countries and 30 renowned photography institutions, showcasing 114 domestic and international exhibitions, collecting and promoting 120 thematic exhibitions, with a cumulative attendance of over 1.5 million visitors and coverage by over 100 media outlets. Here, people experience the power, vibrancy, and allure of photographic art, where Eastern and Western values and cultural ideologies collide, are acknowledged, and understood.

The 2016 Beijing International Photography Week, themed “Images in Presence,” presents outstanding photographic works reflecting China’s social development and progress, introduces internationally renowned photography festivals and exhibitions, and through the display and promotion of photographic works, promotes interaction within the photography community and enhances cultural communication and understanding on an international level. The event includes five main segments: the opening ceremony, a series of exhibitions, photography lectures, the photography market, and special events. The main activities are based at the China Millennium Monument, while also extending to major districts and counties in Beijing and key public cultural venues such as universities.

The Beijing International Photography Week strives to build a platform for external cultural exchange in the field of international photography festival exhibitions; an authoritative platform for the release and promotion of leading photography art organizations, professional photography institutions, outstanding photographic art, professional photography brands, and distinguished photographers; an innovative platform for the further integration of photographic art and technology; and a public cultural service and market trading platform centered around thematic photography exhibitions.

This time, Honeyview collaborates with artist Mr. Cai Yuan to bring this treasured lens, cherished by Cai for many years, to the 2016 Beijing International Photography Week. Titled "In Noon There Is Edge—Cai Yuan’s Photography Collection Exhibition," the show will not only feature a “cosmic divine lens” but will also showcase numerous top-tier large-format cameras and lenses. In addition, the exhibition will present photographic works by Mr. Cai himself as well as over 50 works by Arles Photofestival participants from his private collection. As the first equipment exhibition at the Beijing International Photography Week, it will also mark the first domestic display of top-tier large-format cameras.

Additionally, "Chinese Faces" is another major move by Honeyview this year, having been successfully exhibited at Germany’s Photokina and receiving widespread attention.

The project seeks out some of the more interesting Chinese people engaged in various professions—ordinary workers, internet celebrities, writers, cosplayers, overseas shopping enthusiasts... Like everyone else, they experience anger, disappointment, unfairness, happiness, joy, surprise... yet they continue to live with hope. A selection of photographers skilled at telling stories through images were invited to document these individuals who embody the characteristics of China’s era.

Exhibition dates: October 15, 2016 – October 23, 2016

Exhibition location: China Millennium Monument, Beijing
