The Wuji Tianyuan Temple in Tamsui has long been a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. Among its blooms, the Yoshino cherry tree planted on the left side of the temple and to the left of the Altar Steps staircase earned the nickname “Cherry King” for its particularly lush blossoms and became a favorite subject for photographers. However, today (15th)Tamsui Tianyuan Temple Flower Condition Reportfan page announced that the “Cherry King” had died due to illness, prompting many netizens who visit the temple annually to post images of its final bloom in mourning.
