On December 31, marking the end of the year and the second stop of the 2016-2017 Trailblazer Super Snow Skiing Grand Prix at the Heilongjiang Yabuli Ski Resort, nearly a hundred skiing enthusiasts gathered to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one through skiing, kicking off a new chapter of winter sports themed “Hot Snow Ignites Winter, Supporting the Winter Olympics.”

Innovative Model Launches a Nationwide “Support the Winter Olympics” Journey in the Ice and Snow Era
With the success of Beijing’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics and growing public attention to health, more and more people are turning their focus to winter sports. The well-known Chinese outdoor brand Trailblazer, in collaboration with the Bird’s Nest, Shizhi Sports, and other brand partners, jointly created the “Hot Snow Ignites Winter, Supporting the Winter Olympics” Ice and Snow Alliance. This initiative encourages the public to actively participate in outdoor activities and strongly supports the development of winter sports in China, contributing to the Winter Olympics through concrete actions. By creating an innovative model of “training camp + competition,” it aims to cultivate reserve talent for winter sports, promote the popularization of winter sports events, and allow more people to experience the joy of ice and snow activities.
To further implement the 13th Five-Year Plan goal of “popularizing winter sports and actively hosting the Winter Olympics,” following the precedent set by the December 17 Chongli Dolomiti Station, the “training camp + competition” model was first introduced to integrate national ice and snow resources and successfully drive the economic development of the host ski resorts. The organizers perfectly combined the “Ice and Snow Training Camp” with the “Super Snow Skiing Grand Prix,” adhering to the three core concepts of the Winter Olympics bid—“athlete-centered, sustainable development, and cost-effective hosting”—and strived to organize a nationwide, interactive, and entertaining event for everyone.

On December 30, the 2016-2017 Trailblazer Super Snow Skiing Grand Prix · Heilongjiang Yabuli Station held a pre-event promotional meeting. At the meeting, Ning Xuanm:, Product Specialization Manager of the Trailblazer Mountaineering Division, stated: “The ‘Hot Snow Ignites Winter, Supporting the Winter Olympics’ Ice and Snow Alliance, established by Trailblazer, the Bird’s Nest, and Shizhi Sports, will integrate national ice and snow resources. Through the innovative training camp + competition format, it aims to draw more attention to winter sports and support the Winter Olympics with concrete actions.” Subsequently, Wang Dongdong, Market Department Manager of the Heilongjiang Yabuli Ski Tourism Resort Management Committee, and Jin Zhe, Project Director of Shizhi Sports, provided detailed introductions to the ski resort resources and company projects, along with their plans for the new year. After the meeting, the ice and snow training camp commenced at the Heilongjiang Yabuli Ski Resort. Targeted at beginners, it featured a well-structured curriculum to popularize ice and snow knowledge, combined with fun, practical experiences, while also conveying the healthy value of having a “brave heart,” allowing more people to enjoy the happiness brought by winter sports and cultivating reserve talent for the sport.

Hot Snow Ignites Winter, Rocking the “Little Paris of the East”
Upon arriving in Harbin, the warmth of the sun feels as if cooled by the snow, unable to heat up no matter what, and the chilly wind provides quite the unique experience. Yet, you can’t help but be drawn to this city known as the “Little Paris of the East,” where glistening ice sculptures adorn the streets. Leveraging Harbin’s advantages during the ice and snow season, the city fully showcases the charm of ice and snow culture. The competition events were men's/women's snowboard giant slalom and men's/women's alpine skiing giant slalom. According to the rules, each participant had one opportunity to familiarize themselves with the course. It is understood that this event was jointly organized by the well-known domestic outdoor brand Trailblazer, the Bird’s Nest, and Shizhi Sports, hosted by the Heilongjiang Yabuli Ski Resort, and exclusively operated by Shizhi Sports.

On December 31, the 2016-2017 Trailblazer Super Snow Skiing Grand Prix was officially launched by Zhang, General Manager of the New Yabuli Ski Resort, and Zhang Meng from the Trailblazer Brand Center. On the day of the competition, the Yabuli Ski Resort gathered over a hundred participants and spectators, creating an extraordinary atmosphere of hot snow igniting winter. The racecourse resembled a silvery-white ribbon embedded in the mountains, shimmering brilliantly under the sunlight. The participants, all highly skilled, sped down the silvery ribbon like eagles. Skiing is not just a sport; it’s more about courage and challenge. Merging with this white world felt like a dream. After intense and exciting competition, the champions of the men's and women's alpine giant slalom emerged—they were local Harbin athletes Dong Ziyang and Jia Jing. After a brief break, the men's and women's snowboard giant slalom began. The snowboards seemed to come alive under the feet of the competitors, nimbly dodging gates and drawing cheers from the crowd. In the end, Guo Hongjun and Li Yi won the men's and women's snowboard giant slalom championships respectively. After the competition, one participant shared: “I am very passionate about skiing. I hope to contribute to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics through this competition. Also, using skiing to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new is a shared dream among skiing enthusiasts.”

Jilin Beidahu, Tackling E10
To further implement the core spirit of “Hot Snow Ignites Winter, Supporting the Winter Olympics,” the 2016-2017 Trailblazer Super Snow Skiing Grand Prix headed to the Jilin Beidahu Ski Resort on January 7 to tackle the E10 course, aiming to lead more skiing enthusiasts in supporting the Winter Olympics with action.
Additionally, this event is supported by professional outdoor and skiing registration platforms. Participants can complete online registration by filling out information via the Ski Assistant APP, GOSKI, and Lezan.
