Introduction

Since I upgraded my girlfriend’s phone to an iPhone 7, I smoothly moved up as well, taking over her iPhone 6s. I had long heard that Apple launched a free battery replacement program for the 6s last year, and this phone was still within its warranty period, allowing me to give this 6s a full “energy revival.” Next, I’d also like to share the service experience of my battery replacement from this HowToTrip editor.

・Don’t seek temporary convenience only to fall into the trap of unauthorized repairs voiding your warranty

In recent years, the O2O trend has also boosted many after-sales O2O service providers for mobile phones. Many friends around me have opted for these providers offering doorstep services for the sake of convenience. However, I strongly advise against such service models for users whose phones are still under warranty. Most of these vendors do not possess Apple-authorized or certified repair qualifications, and once the device is opened and parts are replaced, you may very likely lose your warranty benefits. Apple’s replacement criteria for the iPhone 6S battery program clearly state that any unauthorized modifications, disassemblies, or repairs not performed by Apple-authorized service providers may result in the loss of warranty and out-of-warranty repair eligibility.

・Official repairs are essential—Baibang is reliable and efficient

I found through the official website that there’s an Apple-authorized Baibang repair shop at Xidan Joy City, which is the closest to me. After confirming with customer service that they could replace the 6S battery, I headed there.

When I arrived at the Baibang store, I found quite a few people waiting in line. But to my pleasant surprise, the store had a dedicated battery replacement channel. After registration and testing, everything went smoothly. The customer service first backed up the phone’s data and assisted by guiding me on where to turn off the password and remove the SIM card. Then the device was handed over to the engineer's workspace for the battery replacement. While waiting for the replacement, I took a stroll around the mall, and when I returned, I simply showed my receipt and ID, verified the match, and smoothly retrieved my phone. The entire process took just about an hour. Before leaving, they even gave my phone a free screen protector. Kudos to Baibang for their efficient service—the whole battery replacement process was truly a smooth after-sales repair experience.

Because I went on a weekend, the Baibang store at Xidan Joy City was very crowded. But the store had set up a dedicated fast track for 6S battery replacements, which allowed me to complete the service with almost no wait.

The business process was clearly explained, saving a lot of time asking questions

After browsing around the fifth floor for a while, I returned to the store and picked up my phone. The whole process took about an hour, very efficient.

The staff there told me there was a free screen protector offer, so I quickly took advantage of the benefit and gave my old phone a fresh new look.

・A few words about Apple’s after-sales service

As an officially authorized Apple after-sales service point, the overall experience was not inferior to that of an Apple Store. The Baibang Xidan Joy City store has a total of 13 service windows, plus a dedicated fast track for the iPhone 6S, making the repair process highly efficient in both time and quality. In contrast, some seemingly “cheaper” unofficial repair channels may seem to save money but actually create many unnecessary troubles. Recently, there were reports of an O2O service provider being ordered to stop operations by the Consumer Council for failing to honor its screen insurance services.

So I suggest that all Apple users try to go to officially authorized channels like Baibang for repair services. This way, you can avoid many unnecessary costs and ensure the safety of your hardware components to the maximum extent. It’s definitely the best choice for peace of mind and savings.
