Refrain from excessive speech, anger, and envy or greed.
In2009, the number of enthusiasts nationwide did not exceed100people.
The above figures come from our guest in Rui’s Living Room this issue,-the founder, promoter, and practitioner of China’s kitesurfing movement, China’s foremost kitesurfer, and head of Perfect Ocean—Li Jinguang (A-Guang).
Perfect Ocean is a water sports alliance formed under A-Guang’s advocacy, consisting of professional water athletes and coaches. It now has6outlets: an equipment shop, |an inn, |water sports center, |and an association.
A-Guang’s business strategy, which stays true to his inner beliefs,
contains profound economic theories.
2On the 14th, Valentine’s Day, in Phan Rang, Vietnam.
On that day, the greatest gift Li Jinguang (hereinafter referred to as A-Guang) received was breaking the Asian men’s kitesurfing high-jump record at16.2meters.
“I’m quite confident in executing my high-jump techniques. Basically, every time I land safely without encountering overly dangerous moves.”
It’s not easy to collaborate in extreme sports—everyone is quite individualistic,
which is experience A-Guang has summed up over the years.
A-Guang cares deeply about the corporate culture of Perfect Ocean.
Corporate culture may sound somewhat abstract, but it can actually have a significant impact on a company’s image and future development.
2009In the year 30 (likely meant as 'in his 30s'), Ah Guang felt particularly tired and thought he needed to reflect, so he temporarily closed the shop, did nothing, and dedicated himself to chasing the wind—going wherever there was wind to kitesurf. Most of the current kitesurfing bases were discovered by Ah Guang back then.
There are many such precedents that veterans in the outdoor industry should know. Many businesses, at the start-up phase, begin with a few people full of passion, sharing hardships together. However, during development, they often fall apart due to disagreements. This causes harm to the business, to users, and to both family and friendship bonds.
Everyone is an independent individual, influenced by different education and life experiences, so viewpoints themselves are not right or wrong—but they can lead to outcomes that some collaborators cannot accept.
Ah Guang doesn’t like collaboration.
“Apart from cooperating with one or two clubs in the same industry, I don’t collaborate with other clubs, including brands,” and he especially dislikes people who don’t understand kitesurfing giving orders.
‘’They don’t understand kitesurfing and think it’s a mainstream sport.’’
Unless it’s a very large enterprise or investor,
the kind that could go public together,
Ah Guang said.
