With the upcoming Qingming mini-break, a long-holiday leave strategy has recently gone viral online. Coinciding with the season of blooming flowers and rejuvenated nature, travel is entering a new peak period. Mobile social app Yixin conducted an informal online survey about Qingming travel. The results showed that nearly 40% of Yixin users chose to take extra leave to travel during the festival. Among travel destinations, 30% of users preferred outbound trips, especially cherry blossom viewing in Japan, which was the most popular among respondents.

Nearly 40% of netizens take extra leave to travel during Qingming

      This year’s Qingming mini-break runs from April 2 to 4. By taking leave from April 5–7 and combining it with the weekend public holidays, the break can be extended to an 8-day long holiday, almost equivalent to a National Day holiday. With such an appealing leave strategy, many netizens have chosen to take extra time off for travel. According to Yixin’s informal online survey, 7% of users said they would prefer to travel before the holiday by taking leave in advance, 31% opted to take leave after the holiday, 49% said they wouldn’t take extra leave, and another 13% said they had no available leave days. Overall, those who planned to “extend their break” made up 38% of the respondents.
