The 3rd China Hot Spring Golden Spring Awards Officially Launched in Jianhe
The Golden Spring Awards are China’s biennial hot spring awards, advised by the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) and the Hot Spring Tourism Branch of the China Tourism Association. Held every two years, they are known as the “Oscars” of China’s hot spring industry and are the country’s only authoritative hot spring accolade. Grounded in market trends and leading consumer behavior, the awards maintain a professional and authoritative evaluation of the hot spring market, staying close to consumers. All awards undergo fair, just, and transparent judging processes, combining expert evaluations from the industry’s most authoritative figures with real consumer feedback nationwide to honor outstanding hot spring enterprises and professionals, delivering the highest-quality hot spring experiences to consumers.
The First China Hot Spring Golden Spring Awards made a dazzling debut in Xiamen, Fujian in 2013, and the Second Edition brilliantly launched in Dalian, Liaoning in 2015. The Launch Ceremony of the 3rd Edition, hosted by the Tangshan Hot Spring National Tourism Resort, chose Jianhe County in Qiandongnan Prefecture, affirming the development of Jianhe’s hot spring tourism industry.
2017 is a crucial year for advancing the construction of a more intensive world tourism power and an important year for implementing the 13th Five-Year Plan. Against this vibrant backdrop, the 3rd China Hot Spring Golden Spring Awards, launched on April 28 in Jianhe, Guizhou, carries the immense brand influence established by the previous two editions. With the theme of “Hot Springism,” it promotes the belief in premium and healthy hot springs, selecting a new batch of outstanding hot spring enterprises based on corporate citizenship standards, aiming to provide the public with high-quality wellness hot springs and cultivate a hot spring lifestyle.
It is understood that following the launch ceremony, the 3rd China Hot Spring Golden Spring Awards will enter the application phase, undergoing a rigorous selection process through nomination, preliminary, and final evaluations to determine the winners of each award. Meanwhile, a series of annual highlight events such as the Golden Spring Golf Invitational, Golden Spring Hundred Springs Fun Run, and the establishment of the Golden Spring Hot Spring Alliance will also be rolled out in succession.

Jianhe’s Tourism Product System Takes Shape & Hot Springs Are the Guarantee of Premium Tourism in Jianhe
Jianhe, a magical, quaint, and picturesque ethnic minority county, is located in southeastern Guizhou and central Qiandongnan Prefecture, with a total population of 280,000, among which ethnic minorities—mainly Miao and Dong—account for 96%.
In recent years, Jianhe County has focused on the goal of “leveraging its two treasures—ecology and culture—to build a renowned ethnic cultural tourism destination at home and abroad.” Mobilizing the collective wisdom and strength of the entire county, it has strived to create four tourism brands: “One City (the new county seat), One Mountain (Bawu Mountain), One Spring (Jianhe Hot Spring), and One Lake (Yang’asha Lake).” After years of effort, Jianhe’s tourism product system has largely taken shape and has been organically integrated into the core mid-route tourism products of Qiandongnan Prefecture.
Hot springs are Jianhe’s premier tourism resource. “Bathing in winter keeps you warm without chill, while summer bathing leaves you feeling light and cool”—this best describes Jianhe’s hot springs. Though hot springs are common across China, Jianhe’s advantage lies in its rare self-flowing radon springs. Tested by France’s Living Spring Certification Center—the world’s most authoritative hot spring water quality certifier—the waters are rich in multiple beneficial trace elements, classified as sodium sulfide type, with multiple indicators meeting national medical mineral spring standards. Similar to France’s Vichy Springs, they offer excellent disinfection, disease relief, and skin benefits. Effective for treating respiratory diseases, rheumatism, skin conditions, and more, they rank among Guizhou’s three most famous springs and are honored as the “Sacred Waters of the Miao Homeland.”
Jianhe Hot Spring City is the flagship attraction of Jianhe’s tourism development, covering approximately 430 acres with a built-up area of about 103,000 square meters. Invested with 200 million yuan, it is constructed to national 5A-level scenic area standards and aims to become a “world-renowned, top-tier in China, and unique in Guizhou” all-season, round-the-clock hot spring resort destination. The project is built by the People’s Government of Jianhe County and managed by Chongqing Yitang Hotel Management Co., Ltd., and will unveil its unique charm to the world in May.
Jianhe Hot Spring City is China’s first Miao-culture-themed hot spring resort, incorporating architectural features of ethnic minorities such as stilted buildings, beauty railings, and upturned eaves, with Miao-Dong cultural elements. The rooftops feature golden ingots, and walls display ox head totems. Strolling along the covered walkways and bluestone paths evokes a poetic and picturesque atmosphere akin to “picking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern hedge, gazing leisurely at the southern mountain.”
It is reported that in 2016, Jianhe County received a total of 1.7374 million visitors, a growth rate of 43.3%; tourism revenue reached 1.299 billion yuan, growing by 57.4%. The completion of Jianhe Hot Spring City not only enhances the quality and image of Jianhe’s tourism but also radiates to boost the local tourism economy. It is expected to significantly increase both tourist arrivals and revenue, playing a vital role in Jianhe’s poverty alleviation efforts and in achieving moderate prosperity in sync with the prefecture, province, and nation.
