1. A Closer Look at "New Retail"
At the 2016 Alibaba Yunqi Conference, Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba Group’s Board of Directors, stated in his speech:
"The era of pure e-commerce will soon come to an end. In the next ten to twenty years, there will be no such thing as e-commerce; there will only be New Retail... Online, offline, and logistics must be integrated to give birth to true New Retail."
Subsequently, at the end of 2016, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Innovation and Transformation of Physical Retail Industry," which made comprehensive arrangements for accelerating structural adjustments, innovating development models, achieving cross-industry integration, and continuously enhancing the supply capacity and efficiency of goods and services for physical retail enterprises. For a time, the term "New Retail" began to frequently appear in major mainstream media, gaining increasing attention.
