The 2017 Devil Mountain Challenge & Yumen International Trail Running Race will kick off on September 9 in Yumen, Jiuquan, Gansu. Following the "Longteng Yading" trail race, this is the second domestic event to receive authorization from the Skyrunner
This year's Devil Mountain Challenge is sponsored and promoted by Migu Running, aiming to showcase China's natural resources and unique landform landscapes to global trail runners, while also fostering international communication in trail running culture and providing both domestic and international athletes with a more professional and high-quality racing experience.
The race location, Yumen Devil Mountain Park, is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this event. The spectacular Danxia landforms, vast and desolate Gobi Desert, and pristine mountain valleys and ravines create a diverse and awe-inspiring landscape. It is precisely because of these distinctive cultural and natural features that the 2017 Devil Mountain Challenge aligns even more closely with Skyrunning’s philosophy and pursuit in trail running—offering greater challenges and visual appeal. As a result, it has attracted numerous top domestic and international trail runners and garnered widespread attention from trail and running enthusiasts.
According to reports, the event includes a 60KM Devil Mountain Trail Race (with 2,154 meters of elevation gain and 200 participants), a 30KM Volcano Trail Run (with 781 meters of elevation gain and 300 participants), and a 10KM Hiking Experience Race (with 224 meters of elevation gain and 150 participants). All three premium routes are professionally designed and feature varied terrains. Among them, the 60KM Devil Mountain course incorporates classic Danxia landforms, Gobi landscapes, and canyons, with the elevation climb being the most thrilling highlight. For this reason, the course has earned triple international point certifications from SWS, ITRA, and UTMB.
To allow more runners to participate in the event and to express gratitude for everyone’s attention and support, the “Who Is the King of Trail Running?” (60KM) voting campaign, initiated by Migu Running for the 2017 Devil Mountain Challenge and Yumen International Trail Race, officially launched on September 6. All participants have the chance to win a pair of custom Nike running shoes!
