On the evening of November 17 at 18:30, the 2017 Scientific Expedition Team of Peking University Mountain Eagle Society to the First Canyon of the Yangtze River held a warm and insightful expedition report meeting. Attending the event were Qian Junwei, Director of the Mass Sports Office of the Department of Physical Education and advisor to the Mountain Eagle Society, as well as representatives from sister societies including Beilin Shannuo, Nongda Fengyun Society, BNU Green Camp, RUC Free Travelers, BISU Fenglan Society, Beijing University of Technology Junye Society, and China University of Geosciences Dadi Society.
The site chosen for this expedition was Cuochi Village, located at an altitude of 4,500 meters in Qumarleb County, Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province. The first canyon of the mighty Yangtze River—Yanzhagui Canyon—is situated here.
The report meeting began with a mysterious gift from afar. Friends from the expedition team who had ventured into the Tibetan region expressed their heartfelt blessings via video. This was followed by a lively and humorous video that vividly portrayed the daily lives of the team members during the expedition—singing and dancing with local Tibetans, playing hand-in-hand with children, conversing and hiking with living Buddhas, and ascending the snow line alongside mountaineering teammates. Throughout the video, they appeared full of spirit and vitality.

The Mountain Eagle Society has weathered 28 years of challenges, and the scientific expeditions have spanned 26 years. Their footsteps have reached remote mountainous areas such as Tibet, Qinghai, Yunnan, and Xinjiang. Social research has covered various aspects including education, healthcare, folk culture, economy, and ecology. The deepest hope of the expedition members is to draw external attention to the surveyed regions and contribute in small ways to their development. Here, we offer our blessings to the expeditions and to the Mountain Eagle Society as well.
