Life-sized Straw Hat Pirates figures debut – One Piece-themed restaurant will have fans snapping photos non-stop

The world’s only officially authorized overseas One Piece-themed restaurant officially opened at 6:00 PM on the 23rd, but had already attracted a large crowd of fans queuing up as early as the morning. In addition to the previously revealed character-inspired dishes, the highlights inside the One Piece-themed restaurant are the life-sized figures of the nine-member Straw Hat Pirates and a miniature version of the Thousand Sunny. Fans are sure to scream, “I want to take photos with them!”

Located on the second floor, the One Piece-themed restaurant greets visitors with a large poster of the Straw Hat Pirates in the stairwell leading up. Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by the life-sized Straw Hat Pirates figures and a miniature version of the Thousand Sunny, with Taiwan-exclusive merchandise displayed on both sides. However, once inside, most people’s first move is to head straight for the life-sized figures to take photos. The interior is designed to resemble the cabin of a pirate ship, complete with nautical drapes, giant ship-shaped tables, and rope lamps – making diners feel as though they’re sharing a meal inside the ship’s cabin alongside the Straw Hat Pirates.

As a theme restaurant, the food is naturally a major highlight. Unlike typical themed restaurants, the dishes here are less cute in style – there are no overly kawaii presentations. Instead, they draw inspiration from the distinctive characteristics of the nine Straw Hat Pirates members. Chef Lin Qixun explained that the pork cutlet curry rice shaped like Luffy’s straw hat uses turmeric rice – praised even by Japanese diners – made from Tainan No. 11 rice to form the hat shape. Usopp’s greatest skill is his slingshot, hence the design element of the Bullet Flame Star Rice Ball. And Sanji, being a chef always searching for the legendary “All Blue,” inspired the chef to create a seafood pasta featuring delicious sea urchins and salmon roe from the ocean. As for Brook, whose body is made entirely of bones, his uniqueness is represented through pork cutlet. Those familiar with the characters will know what Franky’s favorite food is: American-style hamburgers, which come in three flavors.

The restaurant has also launched exclusive ONE PIECE x Taipei Restaurant merchandise that fans must have, such as the visually striking Luffy-shaped mug (NT$780), the realistic Devil Fruit Cup that supposedly grants superpowers (NT$880), and the barrel-shaped Logo Copper Mug (NT$650).
