The event coincided with an unusually strong cold snap in Hong Kong not seen in60years, with temperatures at Hong Kong’s highest peak, Tai Mo Shan, dropping below zero. Heavy traffic caused by numerous private cars heading up the mountain to see the snow led to road congestion, paralyzing traffic near the finish line. To ensure the safety of participants and volunteers, the race was decided to be terminated after21hours.
