– Strong Collaboration Between Chinese and European Enterprises to Usher in a New Era of Outbound Travel for Chinese Tourists
On May 16, 2018, during ITB China — a major global tourism event — the organizers of the China-EU Tourism Year, the European Travel Commission and “Welcome China,” jointly announced that UnionPay International, Tencent, Ctrip, Tuniu, Fliggy, Qyer, and Tongcheng Travel had become official partners of the 2018 China-EU Tourism Year.

Official Partners of the 2018 China-EU Tourism Year Announced
Zheyi Holdings, the operator of “Welcome China,” was responsible for the recruitment and selection of these partners, fostering strong collaborations between Chinese and European entities for mutual benefit. The establishment of these partnerships will help European operators leverage the influence of their Chinese partners to effectively boost bilateral business and showcase the best of Europe to Chinese tourists. In addition, the partners will work together with “Welcome China” to comprehensively enhance the treatment and experience of Chinese outbound travelers.
China, as the world’s largest tourism consumption market and the biggest outbound travel market, saw 147 million outbound trips in 2017, with total spending reaching $220 billion, exerting significant influence on the global tourism market. European destinations fully recognize the importance of the Chinese market and will continue to strengthen ties with the official partners of the China-EU Tourism Year. Through collaboration with the China Tourism Academy and certification partnerships with “Welcome China,” they aim to gain a deep understanding of the habits and preferences of Chinese tourists, creating a “service system tailored for Chinese travelers” to win their favor and achieve a win-win situation in the China-EU tourism market.
European Tourism Market Welcomes Chinese Tourists: New Partners, New Opportunities, A New Era
Mr. Eduardo Santander, CEO of the European Travel Commission, said: “European destinations have realized that they must maintain their competitiveness in the Chinese market. Only with strong support from China’s tourism authorities and deeper collaboration with leading companies in the Chinese tourism sector can more interest in European travel be cultivated among Chinese tourists. We thank ‘Welcome China’ not only for executing the activities of the China-EU Tourism Year and recruiting powerful partners, but also for tirelessly helping the European market embrace new thinking — providing thoughtful and comfortable services for Chinese visitors.”
“Chinese tourists have moved to the center of the global tourism stage and deserve more focus. Their needs and preferences while traveling abroad warrant serious attention from European destinations and operators. The institutions and enterprises that have become official partners of the China-EU Tourism Year all hold significant positions in China’s tourism industry. ‘Welcome China’ is honored to serve as a bridge for this China-EU cooperation. Going forward, ‘Welcome China’ will work with them to showcase Europe’s unique and diverse natural and cultural heritage to Chinese tourists, enhance the visibility of European destinations across Greater China, and further help European enterprises understand the needs of Chinese travelers, ensuring they are fully prepared to welcome them.” introduced Mr. Shen Xiaoya, CEO of “Welcome China.”
“Welcome China,” certified by the China Tourism Academy, recognizes premium global tourism destinations. With a systematic guide, it helps certified businesses establish a “service system tailored for Chinese travelers” to improve the outbound travel experience for Chinese tourists. The “Welcome China” certification has been recognized by the European Travel Commission as the official standard system for receiving Chinese tourists in European destinations. As the exclusive partner of the European Travel Commission in China and one of the organizers of the 2018 China-EU Tourism Year, “Welcome China” is responsible for promoting the establishment of these official partnerships and the execution of subsequent promotional activities. For example, Ctrip will work with “Welcome China” to select overseas hotels suitable for Chinese guests, ensuring more comfortable stays for outbound travelers. “Welcome China” will also collaborate with Tencent to develop a mini-program that provides official, first-hand information for Chinese tourists traveling in Europe, using this information hub to bring convenience to more travelers.
