Hell on earth, heaven in the heart. On May 15, 2018, with the successful return of the last Jeep Wrangler to Beijing, the over one-month-long Jeep Outdoor “Time Travelers” Mysterious Ali in Tibet activity came to a successful conclusion. This event was jointly organized by Jeep Outdoor and the Beijing Wrangler Off-road Club. Starting from Beijing to Tibet, crossing the Ali uninhabited area and exiting via Xinjiang back to Beijing, the entire journey covered more than 13,000 kilometers. It traversed various geological terrains including snow-capped mountains, canyons, glaciers, forests, permafrost, and meadows, overcoming high-altitude hypoxia and geological disasters to enjoy breathtaking scenery.

The activity was divided into three stages. The first stage started from Beijing, entered National Highway 318 via Ya’an, and reached Lhasa, covering a total distance of 3,900 kilometers. The Ya’an to Lhasa section is the famous Sichuan-Tibet Southern Route, stepping through the historic Tea Horse Road. Along the way, it crossed the Hengduan Mountains and Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, featuring towering peaks, dense river valleys, and winding roads. Coupled with the complex and changeable climate and frequent geological disasters, it is considered one of the “most dangerous highways in the world.” Experiencing all four seasons in a single day, the diverse terrains such as snow-capped mountains, glaciers, canyons, and dense forests create ever-changing natural landscapes, making it a world-class scenic route.

The second stage started from Lhasa, passed through the northern edge of the Qiangtang Plateau via the northern route of Ali, then turned onto the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway to Yecheng in Xinjiang, covering a total distance of 3,740 kilometers. It traversed the most magnificent region in western China, truly delving deep into the uninhabited areas of northern Tibet. Most of the road sections were above an altitude of 4,500 meters, characterized by year-round cold, dryness, strong winds, and oxygen scarcity. The climate was extremely harsh, but when one snow-capped mountain after another, sacred lakes (referred to as “cuo” in Tibetan), and freely roaming wildlife such as Tibetan antelopes, wild asses, and snow leopards suddenly appeared before your eyes, you truly realize the vastness of the wilderness and the grandeur of nature.

The third stage covered the Kashgar region of the Pamir Plateau in Xinjiang, along the southern Xinjiang route to the southern edge of the Lop Nur Desert, crossing the eastern end of the Kunlun Mountains and the Altun Mountains, traversing the Qaidam Basin, and returning to Beijing via Xining, covering a total distance of 5,830 kilometers. This section showcased the Father of Snow Mountains—Muztagh Ata, China’s westernmost village—Shahaima Village, the Taklamakan Desert, and the unique landscapes of the western Qinghai wilderness.

In the city, Jeepers are practitioners who love life and dare to take on challenges; in Tibet, they are “Time Travelers” who courageously challenge themselves. Jeep Outdoor apparel demonstrates its vitality in extreme environments. Whether facing sudden wind, rain, or snow, or temperature changes while climbing mountains, Jeep Outdoor excels in waterproofing, windproofing, moisture permeability, and breathability. It accompanied the Jeep Outdoor travelers throughout their off-road journey in Tibet, bringing passion to life with proven performance.

Freedom, passion, adventure. Since its inception in 2017, the Jeep Outdoor “Time Travelers” series has held four events. The heat of the summer desert in Inner Mongolia, the silence of the winter ice fields, the rich autumn atmosphere of southern Xinjiang, and the sacred mountains and waters of Ali in Tibet—all ignite the adventurous spirit within Jeepers. They go off-roading for freedom and conquest, for boundless vitality that stirs their blood.
