With summer vacation approaching, many parents are starting to plan their children’s holiday activities. In modern society, parents are gradually realizing that closed-off, isolated "overprotective" parenting can lead to a lack of sociability and cooperation in children, and may even cause psychological issues. As a result, in recent years, more and more families prefer to let their children connect with nature and broaden their horizons. "Free-range" style wilderness camping has become a great option, not only strengthening parent-child relationships but also helping to develop children’s independence and resilience.
For beginners, preparation before the trip is especially crucial. Items such as specialized backpacks, tents, ground cloths, moisture-proof mats, sleeping bags, portable fire starters, cookware, mosquito repellent, medications, and more are all essentials. When camping in the wild, you may encounter extreme weather and harsh environments, so it’s best to have a waterproof backpack—especially the tent, which must be a professional outdoor model that provides wind and rain protection and is sturdy. If you’re going to high-altitude areas or extremely hot regions, you should prepare specific medications to guard against altitude sickness, heatstroke, or digestive issues. For beach camping, sun protection products are also a must. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the location for setting up your tent at night should take tidal changes into account to avoid potential dangers.
However, the biggest challenge of wilderness camping is probably the lack of electricity, especially when traveling with children—power supply equipment is absolutely essential.
Addressing the essential need for electricity in outdoor settings and meeting people’s demand for high-power, high-capacity, and convenient power sources, ECOFLOW has spent three years in dedicated research and development to launch its large power banks, redefining portable outdoor power. Prior to this, the concept of outdoor power stations did not exist in the market. Even now, ECOFLOW’s outdoor power products remain a new category in the outdoor industry.

The ECOFLOW DELTA 400 offers an ultra-large capacity of 400Wh (pictured on the right). It comes equipped with four types of output ports: AC (220V), DC, car charging, and USB. It can charge a smartphone over 40 times, a laptop 6.5 times, power a 5W light bulb for more than 80 hours, provide electricity to a small refrigerator for 36 hours, and even run a 36-inch LCD TV for 4–5 hours. Essentially, it can meet nearly all power needs for wilderness camping.
Charging is also convenient—you can use solar panels to charge during the day and power devices at night. It’s quite fun to sit in the tent with your child watching cartoons. Many people used to build fires near their tents to ward off wild animals, but due to strong winds in the wilderness, this poses certain safety hazards, especially when children are involved, increasing the difficulty of handling emergencies. With ECOFLOW, you can keep lights on all night, adding an extra layer of safety and allowing for more peaceful sleep. If you’re not driving and can’t access mains electricity for charging, you can purchase a portable solar panel to charge the power station while using it.
In the early days, when people went camping, they could only bring small gasoline generators—bulky and noisy, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep with them running at night. Not only were the intense vibrations unbearable, but the pungent smell of fumes was also unpleasant. With the advancement of technology, travel gear is evolving, and outdoor power solutions are becoming cleaner, more environmentally friendly, and safer.
Take the ECOFLOW portable power station as an example—it uses automotive-grade lithium-ion power cells of the same caliber as Tesla. Each cell has lower internal resistance, generates less heat, and offers a longer cycle life. It’s important to know that substandard power cells combined together can be as dangerous as a high-powered bomb. It’s reported that the R&D team behind ECOFLOW has 13 years of experience in battery management, always prioritizing consumer safety.
Wilderness camping, as a new social phenomenon and an emerging urban culture, is developing rapidly and increasingly shaping people’s lifestyles and entertainment habits. From June 28 to July 1, the 2018 Asia Outdoor Products Expo was held at the Nanjing International Expo Center, where ECOFLOW was one of the exhibitors (Booth No.: 6.3310). We also look forward to more innovative outdoor products bringing new experiences and possibilities to wilderness camping.
