On August 16, the "2018 Tibet Nyingchi Basongco Tourism and Culture Festival," jointly organized by the People's Government of Gongbo'gyamda County and the Tourism Development Committee of Nyingchi City, co-hosted by the Tourism Development Committee of Gongbo'gyamda County, Xianchuang Guotou Group of Nyingchi City, Tibet Gongbo Tourism Development Co., Ltd. of Gongbo'gyamda County, Tibet, and the Humpback Whale Cultural Tourism Group, and assisted by Tibet Canghaiji Cultural Creativity Co., Ltd., and planned by Xianchuang Huiteng Industrial Co., Ltd. of Nyingchi City, will arrive as scheduled. The main activities of this year’s Basongco Tourism and Culture Festival will run from August 16 to 18, featuring a rich variety of events including the opening ceremony, the launch of tourism IPs, the tourism culture music festival, a feast of folk arts and crafts, a rock music and beer carnival evening, a cool car party elite challenge, the release of a whole yak feast specialty cuisine, an exhibition of achievements in intangible cultural heritage protection, and tourism merchandise trade activities among more than ten sub-events. The on-site activities will also involve Gongbo tourism investment promotion, carnival events, investment attraction, and other forms, creating a multi-element interlinked tourism development cycle network. During the cultural performance segment, substantial cultural connotations are infused into the tourism experience, primarily through adaptations of poems and songs by Tsangyang Gyatso, Tibet’s most representative folk poet and sage. Tsangyang Gyatso was a famous poet and political figure in Tibetan history, best known for the classic Lhasa Tibetan woodblock edition of the "Songs of Tsangyang Gyatso."
