Hiking
Safety
Carefully plan your itinerary and familiarize yourself with the route, including contingency exit routes and transportation arrangements. Each hike should be led by an experienced hiker familiar with the trail. For larger groups, additional experienced individuals should assist, with approximately one assistant leader for every 10 participants.

Choose trails with clear signage. Do not venture off-trail or create new paths to avoid getting lost or having accidents. Do not push yourself beyond your limits; hikers must be aware of their own physical condition and act accordingly. Avoid hiking alone to ensure you have support—ideally, travel in a group of four or more. Also, avoid excessively large groups to ensure the leader can properly supervise everyone.
Hygiene
When engaging in outdoor activities or picnicking, ensure both personal and public hygiene for the benefit of yourself and others. Get adequate sleep before departure to ensure you are well-rested and healthy.
Wash your hands or use disinfectant wipes before eating. When using restrooms, be considerate and keep the area clean—clean up after yourself if you make a mess.
Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, and try to stay away from crowds. Clean water may not always be available in the wilderness, so bring disinfectant wipes to maintain personal hygiene.
Do not spit or litter on the trails—violators may be prosecuted. Minimize waste production. Do not leave your trash in the wilderness; take it to designated waste disposal sites. Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or lip balm to prevent the spread of illness.
