High-speed rail passenger volume nears 500 million; celebratory giveaway offers business class tickets

Taiwan High Speed Rail’s passenger volume is about to surpass the 500 million mark. Following the launch of the “Crossing 500 Million for a Better Life” giveaway campaign, the first “bonus prize” winner was announced on the 17th at Taoyuan Station. To date, seven lucky passengers will each receive four free business class ride vouchers. Taiwan High Speed Rail stated that the total number of tickets sold has now exceeded 499,626,525. The “grand prize” winner—the 500 millionth passenger—will receive an annual commemorative free seat ticket for unlimited rides across all routes.

Meanwhile, the high-speed rail company is also holding a “Photo Check-in Collection” event across all 12 stations. From now until July 31, passengers at any THSR station can check in on Facebook or Instagram with the name of their station, take a photo with the “event panel,” write “Crossing 500 Million for a Better Life,” and tag #TaiwanHighSpeedRail #Crossing500MillionForABetterLife #LookingForYou, setting the post to public. They will then have a chance to win two standard class tickets, limited to 150 prizes. The list of winners will be announced on the event website after the campaign ends.

Taiwan High Speed Rail states that winners must present their ticket stubs to claim prizes. The “grand prize” 500 millionth passenger will receive an annual commemorative free seat ticket for unlimited rides across all routes. The two passengers immediately before and after the 500 millionth will receive the “second prize”—a “THSR Holiday Couples Trip” for two people, including round-trip business class tickets and a THSR holiday accommodation experience.
