Photograph surreal architecture this summer at the must-visit new IG hotspot

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum closed last October for a series of renovation projects. Although the interior has been off-limits for nine months, the outdoor space has continued to host a range of activities. Continuing last year’s theme “Action Research on the Maintenance Workshop,” a call for proposals was issued, with the project 《OO》 by Da Lin Studio winning. Its unique translucent architecture will be exhibited until the end of July, becoming a new summer photo hotspot.

The 2018 fifth edition of the X-Site Project at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum continues last year’s theme “Action Research on the Maintenance Workshop,” responding to the museum’s hardware renovation issues through an open call for submissions. After two rounds of selection, the project 《OO》 stood out, assembling everyday elements into a shifting dreamscape—like a fantastical building leaping straight out of a dream.

The exterior of 《OO》 features two towering cylindrical structures. Translucent wave panels create the visual effect of curved space, while slender scaffolding achieves structural balance that disturbs spatial perception. Under varying light conditions, they interplay to produce dynamic effects of compression and release, transforming everyday maintenance visuals into an artistic experience.
