Typhoon Son-Tinh, the ninth typhoon, may form soon—stay alert for twin typhoons and high temperatures with strong winds

The tropical depression with a pressure of 1000 hPa is located at 18.5°N, 122°E, in the sea north of the Philippines, moving westward at 25 km/h. It may develop into the ninth typhoon, Son-Tinh, on the 17th and rapidly intensify into a mild typhoon.

Affected by the outer circulation of the tropical depression, average wind speeds of 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale are expected over the northern seas of Taiwan, the southeastern seas of Taiwan, and the northern Taiwan Strait. Areas north of Hsinchu and the greater Taipei region should also be wary of strong winds.

Another low-pressure system with a pressure of 1002 hPa is located at 15°N, 131°E, in the sea east of the Philippines, moving slowly northward.

After the formation of the twin typhoons, the key to how they will impact Taiwan lies on Friday—those with recent travel plans should pay close attention.
