Calling all family photos: National History Museum special exhibition invites public submissions

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China, the National Museum of Taiwan History has specially curated the exhibition "We—The 100th Anniversary of the Republic of China," allowing visitors to experience the stories of people who have lived together on this land across different eras—a sense of being with Taiwan and with history, offering an audiovisual experience that differs from conventional exhibitions. Starting now, the museum is specially collecting family portraits and inviting those who live on this land of Taiwan to become part of the exhibition.

Our home is the refuge of our body and soul, a warm sanctuary. With our family, a once cold space begins to gather laughter and tears, and gains the warmth of emotion. The most ordinary moments of our daily lives, when shared with family, often tell a feeling, a memory, and a story—something deeply moving.

The National Museum of History invites everyone to share personal family memories and heartfelt stories through a family photo. From now until September 15, 2011, please send your family photo along with a completed information card via email to nmhmail@nmh.gov.tw, with the subject line "Our Family Memories – Family Photo Collection Campaign." Selected family photos will be displayed as part of the exhibition design in the museum’s "Us – The Republic of China Centennial Special Exhibition" (October 7 to November 20, 2011), and winners will receive an electronic book version of the "National Museum of History Favorite Collections" CD.
