Double typhoons may form in succession with unstable weather; watch out for afternoon rainfall

The tropical depression near Guam and Palau is expected to form as early as Monday, July 16, becoming Typhoon Son-Tinh, the ninth typhoon, and is the second major low-pressure system with the potential to develop into a typhoon. Located from the South China Sea to the Philippines, after forming into a tropical depression, it also has a high likelihood of following Son-Tinh to become the tenth typhoon, leading to a week with two typhoons.

Due to the vigorous development of tropical disturbances, the weather from the 16th to the 22nd will be extremely unstable, with significantly increased moisture, higher probability and wider coverage of afternoon rainfall, and persistently high temperatures causing Taiwan’s perceived temperature to soar, with northern areas even reaching over 36 degrees Celsius. In particular, the Central Weather Bureau continues to issue a high-temperature alert (orange) for Taoyuan City, which requires special attention.

In addition to high temperatures and frequent afternoon rain, the phenomenon of twin typhoons also requires vigilance. Prevent heatstroke and dehydration, and when going out, sun protection and adequate hydration are essential.
