Singapore’s Must-Try Bak Kut Teh Icon Huang Yaxi Opens First Overseas Branch in Taiwan

Bak Kut Teh lovers, rejoice—Huang Yaxi Bak Kut Teh, a renowned Singaporean bak kut teh eatery with over 60 years of history, opened its first overseas branch in Taiwan at the end of July. Located at New Taipei City A8, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi New Life Square, you no longer have to leave the country to enjoy the most authentic Teochew-style bak kut teh.

Huang Yaxi Bak Kut Teh is one of the oldest Teochew-style bak kut teh shops in Singapore. It has been in business since the 1950s and is one of the few authentic old-school tastes in Singapore that remains hugely popular to this day. Huang Yaxi serves a pork-based Teochew peppery herbal soup, paired with freshly brewed kung fu tea. It features strong notes of pepper and garlic, and prides itself on being simple, nourishing, and delicious.

Seeing the growing popularity of Southeast Asian cuisine in Taiwan in recent years, He Xing Catering specially brought Huang Yaxi Bak Kut Teh to Taiwan. The branch officially opened on July 26 at New Taipei City A8, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi New Life Square, allowing Taiwanese foodies to enjoy rich and flavorful Teochew-style bak kut teh without flying to Singapore.
