Hutong Yakitori (Juyan International Catering Group), after introducing the world’s second-best freshly grilled ice cream pineapple bread this summer, has once again invited the renowned Japanese tonkatsu rice shop Yoshikiye from Kobe. The new branch is set to open on December 10 at Taipei’s NEO19 in Xinyi District. During the opening period, diners who check in on Facebook or Instagram can enjoy a 50% discount on all rice bowl dishes.
The signature sauce developed by founder Mr. Tsutomu Kamitsubo at the start of his business, along with a unique breading ratio, gives the fried pork cutlet an exceptionally crispy texture. Since suitable ingredients could not be found in Taiwan, both of these key components must be imported from Japan to replicate the exact same taste as the flagship store.

Head chef Masayuki Iino shared the key secrets to Yoshikiye’s three-time gold award-winning flavor. The quality starts with the pork, rice, broth, breadcrumbs, and cooking oil. The pork is raised from carefully selected breeding pigs, fed primarily with high-quality natural ingredients such as corn, and prepared with strict safety standards and precise proportions. The rice is a specially selected variety of Japanese Koshihikari, ideal for Yoshikiye’s tonkatsu rice. The broth is made from a closely guarded natural stock. For the perfect crispy texture in a rice bowl, a custom-made breadcrumb coating is used that retains its crunch even when soaked with broth and egg mixture. Finally, the oil is a blend of fresh palm fruit oil and vegetable oils (rapeseed and corn oil), ensuring a deliciously crisp and savory finish.
The menu features three types of tonkatsu rice bowls: Yoshikiye Special Tonkatsu Rice Bowl, Classic Japanese-style Tonkatsu Rice Bowl, and Korean Spicy Tonkatsu Rice Bowl.
