Heavy rain in western Japan kills 61; Foreign Ministry urges against travel

The heavy rains caused disasters in cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. Persistent torrential rainfall also triggered severe landslides and flooding in Okayama, Gifu, Kochi, and Ehime prefectures. Hyogo, Nara, Kagawa, Yamaguchi, Kagoshima, Nagano, Tokushima, Fukui, Tottori, and other areas remain under heavy rain alerts, with some even designated as landslide warning zones.
