Typhoon Prapiroon forms; high temperature alert issued for heat and dehydration prevention

Most areas across Taiwan, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will be mostly cloudy to sunny. From early morning to the morning hours, the western half of Taiwan and Penghu may experience localized brief showers or thunderstorms. In the afternoon, localized brief thunderstorms are expected across the island, with a chance of heavier rainfall in some areas.

On July 1, influenced by the southwest monsoon, the southern region and Penghu may see localized brief showers or thunderstorms. Other areas, along with Kinmen and Matsu, will mostly be cloudy to sunny, with localized brief thunderstorms in the afternoon and still a chance of heavier rainfall in some spots.

The weather bureau has also issued a high temperature alert. Temperatures in Taipei City and New Taipei City are expected to reach 35°C, while the rest of the country will see highs around 32–33°C. In addition to being wary of afternoon showers island-wide, people should also take precautions against heatstroke and dehydration.
