Taiwan’s Longest Slide – A New Landmark with a Panoramic View of the Hamasen District

Located within the historical area of Hamasen in Kaohsiung, Dianjiu Street Lane 60 now features an ultra-long slide facility of about 79 meters, surpassing the approximately 75-meter slide in Changhua’s Baiguo Mountain Scenic Area, making it Taiwan’s longest and a rare spiral slide.

The city government has planned to revive the historical area of Hamasen, starting with the first site at Dianjiu Street Lane 60, which is also Taiwan’s first historical reconstruction project. Utilizing the hilly terrain, the city has created a winding slide that runs from top to bottom, passing through historic sites such as old pathways, waterways, and air-raid shelters, while offering visitors a bird’s-eye view of Kaohsiung and a thrilling experience akin to traveling through a time tunnel.

This slide on Dianjiu Street, with its green exterior, stretches approximately 79 meters in total length and is a rare spiral slide in Taiwan. Currently, the main body of the slide has been largely completed. Further integration with the surrounding environment, installation of detailed components, and final inspections are still required. Completion is expected in late August.

With a history of over 100 years, Hamasen boasts Taiwan’s first neatly planned modern streets. It was the first community in Kaohsiung to have access to running water, electric lighting, telecommunications, and electricity, marking the starting point of the city’s modernization. The Kaohsiung City Government has planned an eight-year project to restore the historical area of Hamasen and bring back its historic scenes and former glory.
