Japanese Tonin Ramen launches trial operations in Taiwan with mandatory free noodle refill

Currently, about 20 Japanese ramen chain brands have set up shops in Taiwan. Since Ippudo Ramen’s arrival, it has sparked a ramen craze. Recently, the popular ramen "Tonin Ramen," originating from Kyoto’s Ichijoji area, will also open its first branch in Taiwan on July 2. The opening event is quite special—the owner will mandatorily give everyone a free extra serving of noodles.

"Tonin Ramen" has 9 stores in Japan and 4 in South Korea, specializing in ultra-rich pork bone broth ramen. With pork bone soup as its base and large portions, it is especially popular among students. It also received a high rating of 3.28 stars on Tabelog, known as the "Oscars of the food industry" in Japan.

The overseas first store is located in an alley behind Ming Yao Department Store. During the trial operation period, a free extra serving of noodles will be mandatorily provided—no problem if you can’t finish it. The Taiwan branch’s menu includes Chounon Tonkotsu Ramen (NT$220), Chounon Tonkotsu Shio Ramen (NT$220), Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen (NT$220), and Shio Tonkotsu Ramen (NT$220). For an additional NT$100, you can upgrade to a jumbo portion that includes scallions, bean sprouts, and char siu piled high in your bowl.
