A Hidden Paradise of Golden Rain Tree Blossoms Amidst Rice Fields and Bamboo-Tube Thatched Cottages

Every year during May and June, the golden rain trees (Cassia fistula) burst into bloom, their long pendulous clusters of bright yellow flowers transforming central and southern Taiwan into a stunning golden-yellow cityscape. In Tainan’s Baihe District, there is a hidden century-old golden rain tree sanctuary, as well as beautiful scenery including bamboo-tube thatched cottages, rice fields, and lotus blossoms.

Although golden rain trees are usually planted as street trees, in the area near Dashan Temple in Tainan’s Baihe District, there stands a massive century-old specimen right beside a bamboo-tube thatched cottage. Set against a backdrop of vast rice paddies and blue skies with white clouds, it becomes an exceptionally striking and radiant sight—perfect for capturing magnificent views of the flower sea.

Aside from the century-old golden rain tree near the bamboo-tube cottage, the entire road is lined with these trees, and this area has now reached full bloom—ideal for flower-viewing and photography enthusiasts to seize the moment. Additionally, the Hutoupi Golden Rain Tree Eco Festival has also begun, featuring over 400 blooming golden rain trees that create a spectacular scene.
