Special Exhibition on Director Chi Po-lin to Commemorate the Release of Taiwan from Above Commemorative Stamps

Director Chi Po-lin of the documentary "Taiwan from Above" tragically died in a plane crash while conducting an aerial filming mission last June. To commemorate him, Chunghwa Post will issue the "Taiwan from Above Special Stamps" on June 8. This marks the first time a documentary has been featured on stamps, making it highly significant.

To showcase the beauty of Taiwan to the world, the "Taiwan from Above Stamp Souvenir Sheet" is being issued, featuring four stamps based on photos taken by director Chi Po-lin from the air and personally annotated by him. The aim is to present Taiwan’s natural landscapes and cultural charm from a bird’s-eye view, while also inspiring appreciation and care for the ecological environment.

The stamp designs feature cattle at Dajianshan in Hengchun, Pingtung (8 NT$), the sounds of nature on Yushan in Nantou (9 NT$), the sunset over Yu Fish Farm in Kaohsiung (13 NT$), and the giant footprints in Yuli rice fields in Hualien (15 NT$). Seen from high above, the vast beauty of Taiwan’s nature is displayed, with the voices of indigenous children echoing on Yushan, evoking a deep love for this land.

In conjunction with the stamp release, Chunghwa Post has specially printed first-day covers, stamp-affixing cards, stamp protectors, and loose-leaf stamp albums, which will go on sale early on June 6. Additionally, pre-cancelled first-day cover souvenir sheets will be available for sale on the day of the stamp release.

In addition, in line with the stamp release, the Postal Museum will host the "Taiwan from Above Stamp Special Exhibition" in its Special Exhibition Room on the 6th floor from June 8 to September 2. The exhibition includes stamps featuring Taiwanese scenery, ecology, and folklore, as well as photography works and behind-the-scenes photos by director Chi Po-lin. Clips from "Seeing Chi Po-lin," the trailer for "Taiwan from Above," and behind-the-scenes footage will also be shown on-site.
