Typhoon Maliks intensifies to moderate strength; heavy rain alert issued from Sunday

Affected by a low-pressure system, the weather turned rainy starting in the afternoon on the 10th, with heavy rain alerts issued for 16 counties and cities in Taiwan. Torrential rain warnings were also issued for Nantou and Chiayi, with even heavier rainfall expected in mountainous areas—extra caution is advised.

On the 11th, daytime temperatures remain relatively high. Northern Taiwan, the eastern half, and southern regions will experience brief showers or thunderstorms, while other areas as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu may also see localized brief showers or thunderstorms.

On Tuesday, the area north of Miaoli is less likely to see rainfall, while other regions will have cloudy skies with brief showers. Starting Wednesday, thunderstorms will persist across Taiwan through the weekend. Although temperatures will drop slightly, they will still reach highs of 28–32°C. Be sure to carry rain gear when going out from the 11th to the 17th.
