The “2018 Taoyuan Shihmen Reservoir Hot Air Balloon Festival” will take place over nine consecutive days from June 23 to July 1, offering hot air balloon rides and a variety of exciting events at the Shihmen Reservoir in Taoyuan.

This year’s main events are diverse. In addition to the always-popular hot air balloon rides and the nighttime light and fire show, there will also be a Hot Air Balloon WALK IN experience, a Hot Air Balloon Museum, and a hot air balloon landing experience. Visitors can get up close to the balloons and explore the mysteries inside. This year, even more special-shaped balloons—including a giant airship flying a heart-shaped bird—will take to the skies.

In addition to a series of hot air balloon-related activities, the festival also features the Iron Arena, which combines strength and skill for visitors to take on physical challenges. There’s also a dunk contest for kids, a Flying Music Concert, a VR Sports Park, AR experiences, and the Superhero Stamp Quest, all designed to immerse the public in the festive atmosphere of the hot air balloon carnival.
To allow couples to make eternal promises under the romantic backdrop of hot air balloons and the beautiful scenery of the Shihmen Reservoir, this year’s event introduces a “Hot Air Balloon Proposal” activity. Couples are invited to plan their sweet proposal, creating unforgettable romantic memories. Successful applicants will receive a gift set worth about NT$1,000. Only five spots are available via registration, on a first-come, first-served basis.
